Personal
Background
Currently I am a Principal Member of the
Technical Staff in the Validation and Uncertainty Quantification
Processes Department at Sandia National
Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am a member of the DAKOTA software development
project. DAKOTA is an acronym for Design Analysis Kit for Optimization
and Terascale Applications. As the name
implies, DAKOTA is a suite of software tools that assist engineers in
performing optimization, parameter identification, parameter screening,
and uncertainty quantification. My role on the DAKOTA team is to
investigate and implement new optimization strategies, particularly those
involving computational models of varying fidelity as well as
computations involving uncertain variables and/or functions. This
includes work on strategies that involve surrogate models (surface
fitting methods) and hierarchies of physical models (e.g., varying mesh
resolution, inclusion/exclusion of physical phenomena). In addition to
this research role, I am involved in various engineering analysis and
design applications. Some of my recent publications are
available on the DAKOTA web site.
I am an active member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics (AIAA) and the Society of
Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). In particular, I am a
member of AIAA's Multidisciplinary Design Optimization
Technical Committee and SIAM's
Activity Group on Optimization.
