Dear MDO TC Colleagues: Listed below is an email message from Kemper Lewis regarding the September 9th deadline for submitting text for the AIAA MDO year-in-review article that will appear in Aerospace America. MDO TC members recently added to the mdotc_public email distribution list did not receive Kemper's original message. I apologize to those of you who have received multiple copies of this message. Sincerely, Tony Giunta Anthony A. Giunta, Ph.D. Senior Member of Technical Staff Optimization and Uncertainty Estimation Department Sandia National Laboratories (voice) 505/844-4280 PO Box 5800, Mail Stop 0847 (fax) 505/844-9297 Albuquerque, NM 87185 USA (email) aagiunt@sandia.gov ---------------------------------- Greetings everyone, This is the second and final solicitation reminder for the MDO review in the Aerospace America Year-in-Review issue. Thank you to those of you who have already submitted something. If anyone else is interested in submitting their contribution to MDO this past year, please email me your submission by September 9th. After this date, any submissions will not be used. Necessary submission details are given in the original email (copied below). We are also looking for 2 high-quality pictures for the article that portray some relevant work in MDO. If you have any possible captures, photographs, or figures, please email them to me with a short description. Once again, I apologize for any duplicate emails. Best Regards, Kemper Lewis ================================ As you are probably aware of, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) publishes a "Year-in-Review" Aerospace America issue at the end of every calendar year, highlighting advances in each of the scientific areas covered by AIAA Technical Committees. Many thanks to those who submitted statements last year. I am again writing the article this year and am soliciting summary statements from each of you, if you feel your findings over the past year are appropriate for the article. NOTE: You can make my job much easier by sending me BRIEF statements of the highlights of your lab's, university's, company's, or organization's current contributions in MDO. How Brief? We have 600 words TOTAL. So, if 20 people submit something (a low estimate), that is only 30 WORDS per person. So, please send 2-3 SENTENCES summarizing your contributions this year to me via email. You are welcome/encouraged to send me an accompanying paragraph to let me know the context of your submission, but the one or two sentence submission will let me know the specifics of what you have in mind, and will allow me to make diverse submissions flow together. Please DO NOT send entire papers, long dialogues, or even extended abstracts. It will be very easy to incorporate short statements into the paper, but very difficult to compress long submissions into 1-2 sentences. I may not even do the work justice or represent it appropriately. So, please submit your advancements as close to how you would like it to be to represented. I will do my best to make it fit. ILLUSTRATION: We also wish to include 1-2 illustrations in the article, a photograph relevant to MDO if possible. If you have a high quality photograph (preferred) or graphic pertaining to your work, please consider submitting it for the article. DEADLINE: I need ALL submissions by SEPTEMBER 9th. After this date, submissions will most likely not be used. I will send out an email reminder in late August. I apologize for any duplicate emails.
