Dear Colleagues:

I want to invite you to participate and=20
contribute to an upcoming MDO event in 2006,=20
focusing on U.S.-European cooperation in MDO research and applications:

2006 European-U.S. Multi-Disciplinary Optimization Colloquium
16-19 May 2006
Goettingen, Germany

Sponsors:
Deutsches Zentrum f=FCr Luft- und Raumfahrt (DRL)
European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (EOARD)
U.S. Army Research Lab - European Research Office

The official website is at:

http://www.ae.go.dlr.de/mdoc06/

THE CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IS NOW OPEN. DEADLINE: 31 January 2006

Theme: Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) as=20
a Means for Meeting New Challenges in Vehicle=20
Design. MDO is defined here as "an evolving=20
methodology, i.e., a body of methods, techniques,=20
algorithms, and related application practices,=20
for design of engineering systems coupled by=20
physical phenomena and involving many interacting subsystems and parts."

Forum: Specialist meeting with emphasis on=20
industry participation. Colloquium will be held=20
in a 'seminar format', whereby each section of=20
the program will be launched by a lecture=20
(invited speaker or selected from submitted=20
abstracts) followed by a discussion. Those=20
wishing to offer a 'voice in the discussion' in=20
form of a concise presentation of 2-3 charts, 5=20
min. max, will have first claim to the floor.

Participants: Desired is a mix of participants=20
(60-80) from military and civilian aerospace,=20
land, and sea vehicle manufacturers, the research=20
community (labs and academia), and users. We are=20
seeking participants experienced with=20
"engineering systems influenced by coupled=20
physical phenomena and involving many interacting=20
systems and parts", regardless of whether MDO, in=20
the sense of the above formal definition, was or=20
was not a part of that experience.

Let me or Dr. Jaroslaw Sobieski=20
<j.sobieski@larc.nasa.gov> know if you have any questions about the event.

Looking forward to 2006. Happy Holidays

Oli
